If you can’t sell product for your local dealer, then how are you going to do it for a bigger source? As a sponsored athlete, all you are is another asset for the sales and marketing team. Start small and at the bottom! Many people want to work directly with a factory team, but the truth is few-if any-have the skills to do this right away. And if you do switch, make sure it is for the right reason! ![]() You only get to switch brands once or maybe twice in a career before people start to think that you will just go anywhere someone will sign you, so choose wisely. And number two: if you love them, you will work super hard for them. Number one: it is easy to work with companies you love. The moral of the story is to choose companies you want to work with, for two reasons. You don’t have to be handsome to be a good ambassador for a brand! – Ed. The next year I signed with them and spent 27 years with them! I was disappointed in the outcome, but all throughout that year I sent them my race results, media promotions and stories that I had published. They initially turned my sponsorship request down, but offered me a few pairs of glasses and discounts on other Oakley goods. I loved their glasses, their marketing and I saw myself as part of their brand. One of my first sponsors in the early 90s was Oakley. Specifically, the game seems to think that it needs to throw heaps of enemies at you on a regular basis. However, in some games, it just doesn't work. I say that not only as someone who is in his 40s now who has been gaming since the 80s, but also as someone who understands and can appreciate folks' desire to preserve such mindsets. I think that the biggest downside of the game is its adherence to old school gaming ideas. That said, this game's character builds with different stats/classes are impressive (especially for when the game came out) and the mood of the ship you explore is pretty unnerving, even though the game has aged significantly. I though the ending of this game had one extremely tone-deaf moment, and the writing earlier didn't sufficiently set up another part of the ending. However, after I played through the System Shock 1 remake and thus had more of a "connection" to the series, the story of this sequel appealed much more to me, ultimately leading me through to its conclusion. ![]() I started it once before, but wasn't as into it. Cyberspace still gets pumpin'.It feels good to have finally completed this game. Hopefully there's something a bit more energetic at the right points. ![]() There's a bit of music there if you concentrate real hard, but it definitely has a different flavour to the original's music (as weird and glitchy as it was). In general though, I don't mind the ambient scifi-ness from the demo. You can feel how this one in particular influenced *basically all of* the System Shock 2 OST. They better reprise it, such a great track. The track I mentioned is called "Reactor" in the remastered OST available on Steam, though I'm pretty sure it also played outside of the reactor level, at least in the original (non-enhanced edition). So far, it seems the only one like that is the elevator music. Maybe copyright claims were the reason why they didn't decide to use those :Pīut yeah, original soundtrack is amazing, I wish the new one had tracks that were at least inspired by the old ones (kinda like the new Doom games). ![]() Originally posted by Musk:My personal favourite is the one that sounds like 'Head Like a Hole' by Nine Inch Nails. ![]() ![]() ![]() Dead Space became an instant classic, and was a critical success, with the Xbox 360 (89) performing best, and the PS3 (88) and PC (86) versions also receiving high praise. Dead Space also featured a silent protagonist, which was very popular in the early part of the 21st century. The game also employs zero HUD, with Isaac’s health being indicated on the spine of his suit and weapon info being on the actual in-game weapon itself. The combat itself, which skews away from the usual ‘bullet to the head’ idea of other survival horror games, also implements a limb severing system, allowing you to dismember the many horrors of the USG Ishimura, adding a tactical element to your confrontations with the Necromorphs. Not content with merely copying Capcom’s horror masterpiece, Visceral made Dead Space their own.ĭead Space’s protagonist Isaac Clarke can move freely in combat, unlike RE4’s Leon Kennedy who remains rooted to the spot. ![]() After Resident Evil 4 was released, the third-person style of gameplay inspired Visceral to create something in a similar vein. So let’s take a look at the history of the Dead Space franchise, a series that succeeded where so many others failed.Ģ6 years after its release, gamers still look back on System Shock with a lot of love, so it’s easy to understand why Dead Space developers Viceral wanted to create a second sequel to the classic sci-fi horror/RPG. ![]() With all these franchises stuttering and failing, Dead Space was a real diamond in the rough. ![]() The much loved Fatal Frame series also suffered, with the fourth entry to the series, 2008’s Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, only being released in Japan. Meanwhile, 2004’s Doom 3 was a valiant attempt to transition from a run and gun FPS to a slower, story driven horror title, but failed to move the franchise forward and ended up seeing the series put on ice for 12 years. Smaller franchises struggled too during the 2000s, with the final official Clock Tower game coming in 2002. Then, one year later in 2009, we’d see the release of Resident Evil 5, which took a slight downturn in quality for the series and was somewhat of a letdown after the all time classic that was Resident Evil 4. The genre was facing a downturn, with 2008 also giving us the much anticipated yet disappointing Silent Hill: Homecoming alongside the equally disheartening Alone in the Dark reboot. Before Dead Space came along, survival horror was in a bad place during the seventh console generation. ![]() ![]() ![]() Children under 8 years of age are not allowed inside the Tower of Pisa.At a time, access to the Leaning Tower is limited to 45 people only.If you are a science geek, make sure you read the plaque on the ground floor, made in memory of Galileo.ġ0 Things to Know Before You Visit The Leaning Tower of Pisa He conducted a major experiment of the law of free fall and dropped two cannonballs of different masses from the tower to show that the speed of descent was independent of their mass.
