Specifically, the game seems to think that it needs to throw heaps of enemies at you on a regular basis. However, in some games, it just doesn't work. I say that not only as someone who is in his 40s now who has been gaming since the 80s, but also as someone who understands and can appreciate folks' desire to preserve such mindsets. I think that the biggest downside of the game is its adherence to old school gaming ideas. That said, this game's character builds with different stats/classes are impressive (especially for when the game came out) and the mood of the ship you explore is pretty unnerving, even though the game has aged significantly. I though the ending of this game had one extremely tone-deaf moment, and the writing earlier didn't sufficiently set up another part of the ending. However, after I played through the System Shock 1 remake and thus had more of a "connection" to the series, the story of this sequel appealed much more to me, ultimately leading me through to its conclusion. ![]() I started it once before, but wasn't as into it. Cyberspace still gets pumpin'.It feels good to have finally completed this game. Hopefully there's something a bit more energetic at the right points. ![]() There's a bit of music there if you concentrate real hard, but it definitely has a different flavour to the original's music (as weird and glitchy as it was). In general though, I don't mind the ambient scifi-ness from the demo. You can feel how this one in particular influenced *basically all of* the System Shock 2 OST. They better reprise it, such a great track. The track I mentioned is called "Reactor" in the remastered OST available on Steam, though I'm pretty sure it also played outside of the reactor level, at least in the original (non-enhanced edition). So far, it seems the only one like that is the elevator music. Maybe copyright claims were the reason why they didn't decide to use those :Pīut yeah, original soundtrack is amazing, I wish the new one had tracks that were at least inspired by the old ones (kinda like the new Doom games). ![]() Originally posted by Musk:My personal favourite is the one that sounds like 'Head Like a Hole' by Nine Inch Nails. ![]()
